Tank

On her way back to her childhood home for a visit Cindy Deen Chubb, now of St. Mary’s GA, came down a road she’s been on many times.  This time though she passed a building that she never before saw occupied with the name of Southern Comfort Animal Rescue.  When Cindy arrived home she looked Southern Comfort up on her iPad and got the phone number.  She called the rescue to see if she can have a tour and she started sending in donations which were greatly appreciated.

On her second visit down Cindy came by and toured the rescue. “Out of all the precious animals there, Tank locked eyes with me.  It was like he was telling me I had to take him.  I drove two and a half hours to walk him fifteen minutes.  He kept turning around looking at me as if he was asking, Am I doing ok? Do you like me? He is the sweetest most loving animal.”

Tank is a Bull terrier mix that came to us in August 2014.  He was found as a stray while still having stitches from recently being neutered and raw patches on his head.  After checking around with all the vets in the area and finding no one knew of him, we kept him in our care.  From the very start Tank has always been a very happy and sweet boy.

Cindy knew she wanted Tank right away but was not able to take him at that time.  She made several visits to see him and fell more and more in love with him each time.  “He is the sweetest most loving animal and has to have all your attention.”

In September 2015, about a month of meeting Tank and several visits later, Cindy and her husband Bob finally adopted him and brought him home.  The staff of SoCo were in tears to see him go but so very happy to see him get such a wonderful loving home.  Tank’s new parents had everything ready when coming to pick him up.  They brought a new harness and all the comforts of home for the two and a half hour drive back. Tank was such a happy boy and it seemed as if he was just waiting for Cindy and Bob to find him.

When Cindy brought Tank home, Tank and her other rescue Smiley bonded right away.  Tank made himself right at home and he adores being there.  “I can’t wait to see them every day when I get up and every evening when I get in from work.  He is the best boy and he is truly loved.”

Since his adoption we’ve received many happy emails and pictures of how well and happy Tank is in his new home.  Seeing how much love he has brought to that household makes everything we do here at SoCo all that much more worthwhile.

Trooper

What a Trooper! When we first met this young Boxer-Bull mix (Aug 08), she was thinner than any dog we'd seen alive. A scar that ran from her middle back to her hip had already healed - the evidence of some horrific injury in her past, most likely from a being secured with a large chain similar to those that breeders and fighters use. Concerned citizens had brought into a shelter, knowing euthanasia was more merciful than to allow her to continue to starve on the streets. But look at that face! We did ...and had to bring her to out rescue for some serious TLC!
