Rudolph originally came to SoCo as a very young puppy after being found discarded, with his eight siblings, in a box along a lonely stretch of road. He was part of our Christmas, 2020 pups and found his home during that event. Unfortunately things didn't work out for Rudolph and he was returned to us at the end of April.
Rudolph is a very fun, active and playful boy who also enjoys playing with other dogs. He's not afraid to show affection, but will bark and act defensive towards strangers upon first meeting them, an action that should be met with just ignoring him. Once Rudolph has had time to get familiar with you, he'll be your best buddy ever!
While at his former home, Rudolph displayed some aggressive behavior towards his former owner. According to the family, Rudolph would unexpectedly bite. This aggression was primarily shown towards the woman but also included a vet tech/groomer. Since being back with us and despite his hesitancy towards strangers, Rudolph hasn't even tried to bite anyone. His former home included a couple of young children who were a bit overly energetic and excitable, which Rudolph may have been feeding off of their energy level and becoming unsettled himself. We do believe Rudolph will be great in a home without young, energetic children and/or high levels of stressful atmosphere. (This is in no way an accusation of his former family, only that he feeds off of the energy that he lives among). Rudolph have become a staff favorite, especially Scott Bennett, being very playful with all of us.
Rudolph has now been neutered (he wasn't at the time of the aggressive behavior), is up to date on all of his annual vaccinations, been de-wormed and kept on his monthly preventatives. He did display very good house training ability at his former home but may need a refresher course once adopted. A microchip will accompany his adoption.
If interested in adopting Rudolph, please submit an application at socorescue.com (no need to register or login).
