Description:
This exceptional fellow is C.J., a Shepherd mix that's about 1 1/2 years old.

C.J. originally came to SoCo Rescue a little over a year go in Feb 2013 . He and his four brothers,  barely a couple of months old at the time, were left outside our gates early one morning. Barely able to even stand on his own and in horrible condition, we really didn't think that C.J. would live through the day. But be it a miracle or just his own determination, C.J. pulled through and has grown into a very appreciative and wonderful dog.

Last Nov. C.J. was adopted into a wonderful home, but as it sometimes happens, he had to be returned to us in May 2014. CJ was great in the home, exhibiting perfect house training abilities and being simply wonderful with his new family; he even got along great with the adopter's other dog. While the adopter loved C.J. very much, trying to care for two large dogs while handling a hectic and demanding work schedule, the adopter felt it best to relinquish C.J. back to SoCo Rescue.

C.J. does get along with other dogs but is sometimes particular with which ones he'll accept. He seems to do best around calmer dogs, whether that be male or female and tends to follow whatever traits the other dog may exhibit. While he was also with cats in his former home, he did like to chase them from time to time but never harmed them. C.J.'s behavior at the time was typical of a growing puppy trying to learn his place within the home. Since his return to SoCo Rescue, he has shown to be accepting of other dogs but tends to be best if housed with only one at a time. It's because of this that we recommend C.J. either live as an only dog or in a home with  just one other dog and no cats.

C.J. is very friendly towards people, he even exhibits a loving personality. He is excellent inside a home, non-destructive and even crate trained. He has also been great around children. He responds well to basic commands like "sit" and has shown to be easy to train. He walks well on a leash, doesn't pull or jump up on people and tends to be very calm.

C.J. has already been neutered, is up to date on all of his vaccines, has been micro-chipped and is a very healthy fellow. C.J. is going to make someone a great companion, being one of those "once-in-a-lifetime" dogs.
