Zena and her friend dog, Dixie (see the last pic), were abandoned by their owner when that family moved across town in Glenwood, GA. The family apparently had absolutely no concern for the safety and well being of their two dogs. Both were in the road, searching for food scraps and almost were hit by SCAR's director Scott Bennett's truck. A neighbor to the former owner confirmed that the family had made numerous trips back to their former residence, leaving the dogs without food or water each time.

 

Zena is a people friendly girl, but does make a great watch dog as she'll alert you to any strangers that may come around. But to those that she's familiar with, Zena is a very loving and playful girl.

 

Zena does get along with other dogs, but tends to do better when not kept in a large pack of dogs. She is crate trained, happily eating and sleeping in her crate. She is also accustomed to living outdoors, but a fenced area would be best.

 

Zena is up to date on all her vaccines and has been on a heart worm preventative since coming to our rescue. Unfortunately, her former owners never responded to notes left for them seeking info on her past vet care. She will be spay before her adoption and updated on her rabies, if needed.
