Jack is a courtesy listing. He is a blind stray that was found in the Savannah, GA. area. He is not housed at our facility at this time. The following email was sent to us regarding Jack:

Hello. I am preparing to take this dog to the shelter next week. He was a stray and nearly got hit on the street around the corner from me in Garden City. He is perhaps a cocker mix, perhaps 4-6 years old. He is VERY cute and VERY lovable. He is house-trained, crate trained and is easy to train. He either never had eyes or they were removed. The local animal eye clinic had never seen him but said it was probably done in a vet's office; no prostetics were put in so his eyes were sewn together. Poor baby...he is so precious though. VERY loving.

When we found him he had either been on his own for awhile or terrible neglected. Although he was not starving (he is skinny, though) he was covered in fleas and he was covered in poop/hair mats over all his tail, rear end, legs and under his belly. It was heartbreaking as we laid him down outside and began trimming those off. The poor baby needs someone to love him and make sure that NEVER happens again to him. The only medical issue I see with him is a growth under his tail, about the size of a child's bouncy ball. I don't know if it is a tumor or not but regardless, he acts perfectly healthy and it is not sore at all to the touch. I wondered if it could be an abscess from the poop that was matted all up against that part of his tail-and with his tail moving it would have caused the area to be irritated at least.

My alpha dog is very aggressive toward Jack and he is not fond of her, either. I don't know if that is normal for blind dogs to be a little aggresive toward other dogs (scared of all of them?) but we cannot keep him because it is TERRIBLY unfair to him to be bullied by a dog 2 times his size when he can't even see her. The pound will only keep him for 5 days before they put him down. Please let me know if you can help find a home for Jack. He deserves to be loved and taken care of unlike how he was when we found him. Thank you, Patricia
