The mother of one of our rescue's staff member awoke one morning and went outside, she found a very young, very tiny little pup in her yard. With no other houses in the area and no signs of the pup's mother or any siblings being around, it's most likely that someone simply abandoned the pup at the woman's home. Knowing that she couldn't afford to properly care for the pup, the woman asked her daughter to see if SoCo Rescue could take in the little fellow, which we were more than happy to help.

It won't take long to figure out why we named this pup Rocket. Being fully of energy and speedy little feet,  Rocket is always ready to "blast off" towards the next fun adventure, be that playing with other pups or whichever human he happens to have before him. There's also no hesitation in making new friends as Rocket already considers everyone as one of his buddies. Rocket's ideal home would be one with very active people that can provide him with room to run and play. Rocket strikes us as an excellent candidate for enhanced training, such as agility competition or service dog training.

Rocket has now received 2/3 of his first year "puppy" vaccinations with the third being due around April 8th. He's also been de-wormed, treated against parasites and started on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. Rocket still a little too young for his rabies vaccination, which should be administered after he reaches 12 weeks of age. Rocket's adopter must agree to having him neutered before 6 months and provide verification of such to our rescue. Rocket will need to receive all of his basic training.
