When dog owners ask SoCo Rescue to help re-home puppies and/or dogs for them, we clearly state what their responsibilities will be in exchange for our help. Among the requirements are providing a safe and secure place for the dogs to stay, not to give away the dog/puppies and instructing any potential adopters that they encounter to first submit an application at socorescue.com. Such was the case when we agreed to help a Glenwood couple with a litter of 9 puppies that their dog had delivered. We started proving required vet care to the pups at 3 weeks of age, gave them dog food and other needed supplies and even offered to pay for the mom dog to be spayed. Initially the couple was very appreciative of our help and gladly agreed to those terms. We began providing the pups with their required vet care when they were only 3 weeks old in addition to providing them with dog food and offering to pay for the mom of the pups to be spayed.

But then a week later, the couple allowed the mom to roam freely outside, which resulted in her being struck and killed by a car. The couple then began giving the pups away when they were four weeks old to anyone who wanted one without even telling us that the mom had been killed. By the time we found out, all but three of the pups had been given away and the couple decided they were keeping two of the pups even though they couldn't afford to provide for themselves, much less young pups that were needing vet care. In the end and of the original nine pups, only one was actually surrendered to SoCo, that being Giselle.

Giselle has since flourished in every aspect of her life. She's healthy, happy and very friendly. She loves playing with other puppies and dogs of all ages and sizes, simply loves people and has the ability to light up a room when she's present. Giselle will make an excellent family companion, especially anyone looking for an energetic puppy.

Giselle has received all of her required first year "puppy" vaccinations, de-wormings and preventative care. Her adopter must agree to having her spay once she reaches 6 months of age and providing verification of such to our rescue. She will also need all of her basic training.
