She will be at our next adoption on Feb 11th  at Tractor Supply in Ringoes, NJ. Applications for the adoption of Polly can be submitted at socorescue.com (no need to register or login). Questions about Polly and/or our adoption process should be sent to socorescue8@gmail.com. Please do not call the shelter number.***

Polly's mother, Maggie, had been impounded as a stray at a local animal control when Scott Bennett first met her. Scott immediately recognized that Maggie was in the early stages of pregnancy and rescued her within a couple of days of being euthanized. Polly and her five siblings were born at SoCo Rescue on Sept. 1, 2023. Over the next 3-4 weeks, one male pup, named Moose, seemed to be very healthy and growing properly, but Polly and the remaining four pups had to fight poor health and stunted growth that had them less than half the size of Moose. Before a cause for their poor nutrition could be found, four of the pups lost their lives and Polly came very close to loosing hers as well. But Polly made a full recovery and hasn't shown any lingering affects from what we think may have been caused by lack of nutrients in Maggie's milk.

Polly is still smaller than her brother Moose. But, boy, does this little girl have a big personality! She is very people-oriented, loves snuggling up close and just being held. She is also very playful with there pups, even being submissive when first meeting a new pup. She will be good in a home with other dogs and even children who properly handle a smaller sized dog.

Polly has received all three of her first year "puppy" vaccines as well as her rabies and Bordetella vaccinations. She's also been de-wormed, treated against parasites at proper intervals and started on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. Polly's adopter must agree to having her spay once she reaches 6 months of age and provide verification of such to our rescue. Polly will require all of her basic training.
