It had to be close to midnight when Scott Bennett, President and CEO of SoCo Rescue, got a call from a woman who was sure that a Parvo-infected dog had wandered onto their property. She said unless someone came and got the dog, her husband was going to shoot it to reduce the risk of her dogs becoming contaminated by the virus. Scott immediately set out for the home, which was 45 mins away, and was immediately glad that he had made the trip. He discovered that instead of a Parvo infected dog, the very skinny, very hungry and very gentle male bulldog actually had a very bad case of diarrhea and was highly infested with hook and whip worms. A few days of de-wormer, some good food and a little rest and the newest addition into the SoCo family began to feel much better.

Redman, as he became known, wasted no time in showing us what a near-perfect fellow he was. His calm, laid back personality makes him a great choice for anyone looking for a dog that is both friendly, affectionate but not hyper. Redman gets along great with other dogs, we're not sure about cats, and should make a great family companion with children who know how to properly handle a dog.

Redman came to us Heartworm positive but recently completed his treatment to rid him of the deadly worms. He's been neutered, given a clean bill of health by our vet, had all of his annual vaccinations renewed and, since he really hated the diarrhea, kept on a regular de-worming regiment. He's also been kept on his monthly flea/tick and Heartworm preventatives
