**Adoption Pending**

Priest was adopted but when checked by a vet in NJ, he tested positive for Heartworms.  Needless to say, we were shocked since he’s such a young pup.  That leaves us with 2 options, send him back to the shelter in GA for treatment or try to find a foster for him in NJ/PA that will keep him in a home & continue the slow kill method.

He’s a great boy, loves other dogs, housetrained and very loving.

A family in our area alerted SoCo Rescue about a puppy that belonged to their neighbor after seeing the neighbor mistreat and abuse the puppy. The neighbor would simply leave the young pup outdoors with no food or water and allow the pup to wander freely around the neighborhood. At other times, the neighbor would lock the pup up inside a small wire crate without food, water or even anything to cover the crate when it was cold and raining. The neighbor had stated that she "didn't like the pup" because she had wanted a certain breed of Bulldog and even admitted to beating the pup. But the neighbor was reluctant to give the pup up for some reason and seemed more intent on simply making the pup's life a living hell. The animal control had also been contacted about the neighbor's abuse and neglect of the pup, but said they found no reason to intervene. Scott Bennett spent two months advising the concerned family on how to handle the situation legally. Eventually the owner of the pup did agree to giving away the pup and he was brought to SoCo Rescue. This poor, unloved and abused pup didn't even have a name at the time.

The first order of business was to give this pup a name, which Scott decided that "Priest" seem to fit him. Next up was to administer all needed vaccinations, dewormings and other needed care to get Priest back to healthy. Scott also took a real personal interest in Priest and personally handled his care and housing. Priest did very well with his proper crate training and even displayed some signs of house training. He also proved himself to be very friendly towards people and other dogs. He's smart, playful and really affectionate, making him a great candidate for anyone looking for a new addition to their family.

Priest is neutered & has now received an update on his annual vaccinations, dewormings and has been started on his monthly preventatives.
