SoCo Rescue team members were called to the home of a woman who wanted to surrender a litter of pups. Initially the team found seven puppies but the owner refused to give up one pup. After the team members told Scott Bennett about the owner keeping one pup and their mom, he went to the home to try and convince the owner to also release the other pup. When he arrived at the home, Scott not only found the remaining pup, but also discovered a ninth pup which looked rather sickly and met their mom.

The pups were allowed to roam freely around the property, which was covered with trash and other debris. The owner told Scott that she didn't really know how many puppies there were and indicated that one or two others may have died. Scott then met the mom of the pups, who was hooked to a chain and living with no real shelter. There was a very small water bowl that was empty and turned over and the mom was sleeping on the ground which was also littered with trash. Scott was able to convince the owner to surrender the other two pups, bringing the total to nine puppies, and the mom dog. All of the pups were covered in filth, infested with fleas and had bellies that were swollen by worms. Unfortunately, within a couple of days, the pups all began to get very sick. While Scott and the SoCo team worked very hard to get the pups healthy, six of the nine passed away. Tracie and two of her siblings were the only ones to survive their horrid ordeal.

Tracie now is a happy and healthy pup who enjoys being around both people and other pups. The love and care that she received at SoCo Rescue helped prime her to be an excellent family companion and she will bring much love and joy to whoever is lucky enough to adopt her.

While she received her first year "puppy" vaccinations and de-wormings, our vet did detect a trace of hook and round worms when she received her recent fecal/parasite test. This is not uncommon when puppies are highly infested with worms and the additional de-wormer which was given to her should clear her of all of the worms. Your vet can advise you on how to keep her free and clear of any worms in the future. Tracie's adopter must agree to having her spay at 6 months of age and provide verification of such to our rescue.

If you'd like to give Tracie the loving home that she so deserves, please submit an application by clicking on the following link:https://www.socorescue.com/forms/form?formid=1628
