Torby came to our rescue after his former owners surrendered him to us. Initially they stated that they had found Torby as a stray and that he was only 8 months old. When they brought Torby to us, they did give us vet records that indicated Torby was 8 months old, but those records were a couple of years old. It only took an instant for us to tell that he was older than his former owners claimed he was and our vet estimated his true age to be around 2 1/2 years. Attempts to contact the former owner to find out why they were not truthful with us have gone unanswered.

To the delight of lovers of his breed, Torby is nothing but a true Chihuahua. Fearless, arrogant and eccentric Torby is also very comical, a bit quirky and very loyal. While he may be a little stubborn at times, like when you want him to go into a crate, he'll gladly cuddle up next to you and under the covers when it's time to go to bed. All of these characteristics are those that only a true Chihuahua lover can appreciate because they know the love they get from this breed is like that of no other. Torby has no desire to be the alpha dog which enables him to play very well with other dogs of all sizes. He may take a day or two to become accepting of a new person, but once he does, his display of love leaves no doubt that he then considers you a friend for life.

Torby has been fully vetted, kept on his monthly preventatives and recently tested negative for heartworms. While he does have house training skills, having access to the outdoors will minimize any accidents that may occur. As with most Chihuahuas, we'd recommend a home with children over the age of 10 and who are knowledgeable in handling his breed.
