A woman contacted SoCo Rescue about a what she called a "small, 15 pound" dog that appeared in her yard. The woman was leaving early the next morning for a two week out-of-state trip and was concerned that a much larger dog that roamed freely might hurt the much smaller dog.  Despite it being close to midnight at that point, Scott Bennett agreed to go get the little dog. The woman told Scott that she'd most likely be asleep when he arrived, so she sent him a picture of a two-tone brown dog that appeared to be a small dog. When he arrived, not only did Scott see the "much larger" dog, which turned out to be a Great Pyrenees, he also saw a dog that looked exactly like the dog in the picture, but she was at least 50 pounds! The female dog was very friendly and Scott didn't want to just the her alone at the woman's house, so he took her and her additional 35 pounds back to SoCo Rescue, where she became Clarice.

Clarice has since proven to be a very friendly dog, both to people and other dogs. She's no pushover, mind you, but she always seems eager to meet and make new friends. Clarice most likely will need some house training, but if she has access to the outdoors, she'll most likely be very easy to train. 

Since arriving at SoCo Rescue, Clarice has been kept up to date on all of her annual vaccinations, de-wormings and monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. She did test positive for heartworms when she first arrived, but has since been treated for them. She's also been spayed.
