Description:

***Adoption Pending for our December Adoption Event!!***

When a couple started to leave for work one morning, they noticed what first looked like a bag of garbage that had been thrown under their work van. But after seeing a slight movement and hearing a little whimper, they knew that it was not only a dog under the van but one that desperately needed help. Missing most of his fur, his thin, frail body covered with scabs and extremely dehydrated, Felix was very close to death. The last picture was taken on his first night here) Being familiar with SoCo Rescue, the couple immediately brought this dog to us seeking help for him.

Upon his arrival, Felix drank a ton of water and slept most of the time over the first two days he was with us. But in his eyes, we could see just how grateful he was to be receiving the love and care that we gave him. After regaining his strength, Felix began to show us his true and very affectionate personality. Felix also displayed knowledge of having some house, leash and crate training, has interacted very well with other dogs and even coexist very well with our house cat. Now that he's fully recovered from his near death ordeal, Felix has shown us that he is friendly towards everyone he meets, has a lot of energy and is highly motivated by food; not food aggressive but always wanting to eat. He will, however, gobble his food down rather quickly then try to eat the food intended for another dog. For that reason and if sharing a home with another dog, we'd recommend separating him when feeding time comes.

Felix has now been neutered, received an update on all of his annual vaccinations and de-wormings and even tested negative for heartworms. His "perfect" home would be one that allows for plenty of exercise, preferably within a fenced yard, and with someone who is familiar with a strong-willed, high energy dog. He does respond very well to corrective measures and is a quick learner, which should make any needed training easy to accomplish. Although he's displayed house training ability, Felix may need a refresher course once in a new home.

If you think that you can offer this incredible fellow the type of home he deserves and needs, please submit an application at socorescue.com.
