***Pete is currently located at our rescue in GA but also available for adoption in NJ and surrounding areas. Applications for his adoption should be submitted at socorescue.com***

Just down the road from SoCo Rescue is the Oconee River, a favorite fun spot for many people who enjoy boating, fishing and many other outdoor activities. It's also become a not-so-fun spot for many dogs whose owners use the location to abandon them, thinking they'll just find their way to our rescue. Some of those dogs do find their way to our rescue or to another safe location, but far too many meet their fate either by getting hit by a car or from one of the many dangers that they encounter while being homeless. Such was the case for three adult dogs who were found roaming the area in search of something to satisfy the hunger pains in their bellies. Obviously starving and in poor health, the trio of dogs may not have survived their ordeal if they had not been found by SoCo Rescue team members.

One of those dogs was Pete, a medium-sized Lab mix who appears to be the son of one of the other dogs (Old Man) also found at the same time. Pete was very receptive to our efforts to help him and eagerly allowed the team members to get him to safety. Pete has proven himself to be very friendly, playful and enjoys his time spent with people. While Pete has gotten along great with other other dogs, we'd recommend a meet-and-greet with any other dogs that he'll share a home with prior to his adoption.

Pete has now been neutered, received an update on all of his annual vaccinations, de-wormed and started on his monthly preventatives. Pete was heartworm positive when he came to us but has since been treated and cleared of them. Pete may require additional house training once in a new home.

Applications for Pete should be submitted at socorescue.com; questions about Pete or our adoption process should be sent to socorescue8@gmail.com. Please do not call the rescue's GA phone number as they stay very busy caring for Pete and the other dogs in their care.
