Getting a call seeking help for dogs whose owner can no longer care for them isn’t anything uncommon. But getting a call to save dogs that we’ve previously rescued is.

A couple of years ago, Jill and her brother, Jack, were about to be euthanized after their original owner passed away. A relative of their original owner agreed to take them in and gave them a great home, which included another dog (Blackie) that the seniors siblings already knew. All was going very well until the relative recently suffered serious health problems that now prevents her from even returning homes, much less care for three older dogs. So when the call for help came in, we immediately jumped tab the opportunity to help all three. Unfortunately, Jack and Blackie, a senior black lab mix, are heartworm positive but Jill tested negative. While we’d love to keep Jack and Jill together, we know that’s going to be hard to do and are focusing on getting Jill placed into a home as quickly as possible.

Jill is a little dog, weighing in at under 20 pounds, and may have a bit of Beagle in her mix. She’s extremely affectionate, mild-mannered and super sweet. The look of love in her eyes will capture your heart in an instant and you’ll know why we’re so keen on helping her find a new home. She’d make a great companion for a retired/elderly person as she’s so easy to care for. She doesn’t have a mean bone in her body and will brighten the day of whoever is fortunate enough to adopt her.  Now after being spoiled by her foster family, Jill would prefer to only hang with her brother Jack.

Jill has been spay, just received an update on her annual vaccinations, treated against parasites and worms and re-started on her monthly preventatives.

If you can open your heart for a senior dog in need of some TLC, please submit an application for the adoption of Jill at socorescue.com.
