Pepper came to our rescue as an owner surrender. His former owner had asked us to take in both him and his sister because she was expecting a baby and “didn’t have time” for them. When team members from SoCo initially visited the home to meet the pups, we also met their mom, all of who were living within a small fenced area that appeared to not have been properly cleaned in a while, leaving the trio to live in a dirt area full of their own waste. While at the home, the SoCo team administered vaccines and de-wormer to the pups and made plans to take them in within the next few days. The following morning, we learned that the female pup had passed away but we’re not sure why. Fearing the pups may have a contagious disease such as Parvo or coccidia, we elected to immediately get Pepper to our rescue and into quarantine in an effort to prevent him from also possibly passing away. Luckily Pepper never exhibited any signs of sickness, only heavily loaded with worms, and completed his quarantine period without any problems.

Pepper has shown us exactly how friendly and playful he truly is. He lights up whenever he sees one of our staff members, wanting to be petted, cuddled and played with. He has lots of energy, as do most Lab pups, and loves to use that energy playing with the other pups in our care. He’ll make a great companion for anyone looking for a very active, very playful pup to share their days with.

Pepper has now been neutered, received an update on his annual vaccinations, been de-wormed, treated against parasites and started on his monthly preventatives. His adopter should be prepared to offer pepper all of his basic training, which should come easy since he seems to be very smart and eager to learn new things.
