***Duke is currently located in Georgia but is also available for adoption in the New Jersey and surrounding areas. If interested in adopting Duke, please submit an application at socorescue.com. If selected to adopt Duke, one of our team members will be in touch ASAP.*** When a stray big, 80+ lbs bulldog is standing in your yard and just starring at you, it can be quite unnerving, especially when you don't know what that dog's intentions are. But lucky for the man who found himself in such a situation after Duke appeared in his yard, Duke only wanted to make a friend and, hopefully, be rewarded with something to eat and drink. Even better for Duke, the young man did much more than offer him food and water, he even gave Duke temporary shelter so we could prepare him for adoption. Duke is a big, strong dog who only needs a little training to become a near-perfect companion. He already knows a couple of basic commands and is very attentive to the person in front of him, an indication that he'll be easy to train in other areas. His playful and friendly personality makes him a great candidate as a family companion but with his size and and energy, care an extra attention will be needed if he is to be around small. children. Duke also has a desire to play with other dogs and we'll require a "meet-and-greet" with any other dogs that he may share a home with. Duke has not been cat tested but we wouldn't recommend a home that also includes cats simply because of his level of energy and play. Duke has now been neutered, received an update on all of his annual vaccinations, de-wormings and kept on his monthly preventatives. He recently tested negative for heartworms as well. His adopter should be prepared to offer additional house and leash training. To apply for the adoption of Duke, please submit an application at socorescue.com. There's no need to register or login on our site and inquiries through other adoption sites or phone calls are not consider as an application. If chosen to adopt Duke, you'll be contacted by a SoCo team member ASAP.
