When Axel's former owner moved, he abandoned Axel at the home of a disabled woman who wasn't physically or financially able to care for this sweet, young male dog. The woman just happen to be the sister of SoCo Rescue's Scott Bennett, so she knew who to call when needing help with an abandoned dog. 

Axel is a sweet, gentle and very laid back dog who also has a very playful side to him. He has been very friendly towards all of our staff and greets each person he meets with tail wags and doggy kisses. His compatibility towards other dogs earned him a friend and kennel mate, who he also enjoys playing with. Most days, you can find Axel just chilling in his kennel, seeming to enjoy his down time just as much as his play time. Axel's wonderful personality makes him a great candidate as a family companion, even in a home with children. 

Axel has now been neutered, received an update on all of his yearly vaccinations and de-wormings, started and kept on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. While he initially tested positive for heartworms, Axel has since been treated for them and is now heartworm free. While he formerly lived as an inside dog, Axel may need additional house training.
