Cricket was surrendered to our rescue after her owner was being admitted into hospice care and in failing health. While Cricket's former owner has made some improvements in her health, she is still unable to properly care for her beloved former companion.

When Cricket first came to us, she was a bit testy towards our staff and another's who approached her. At first, Cricket would bite at people, but then she was scared and unsure of her new surroundings and the changes she was facing. But after a little patience and understanding, Cricket became extremely friendly and playful with everyone she met. We've since discovered that this somewhat senior girl loves to play and snuggle up next to whatever person is giving her attention.

While Cricket formerly shared a home with two other dogs, one of them currently being her kennel mate, she's been very selective when it comes to properly interacting with other dogs her size. Because of Cricket's past behavior, we'd recommend a home with no other dogs and no young children. We think that Cricket would do best as a companion to a retired/senior couple and one that would offer her a calm, quiet place to live.

Cricket was provided the best of care while with her former owner, which kept her heartworm free and saw her test negative for heartworms during her recent vet examination. She's received an update on all of her yearly vaccinations, de-wormiongs and monthly preventatives and appears to be in excellent health for a senior girl. She was spay while under the care of her former owner. She was house trained while at her former home but may need a refresher course once in a new home. She also loves going on leash walks and is a very active dog.
