**Buttercup is being fostered in the Flemington, NJ area.  Her foster family LOVES her and she has certainly come a long way & is so ready for her forever home. 
sweet   “ B uttercup ”  is looking for  a loving  home . F or  4+  years she primarily lived  in GA  outside with another dog . When her owner died,  she  wound up in the rescue  for  8  months  due to COVID. She  finally made it to  a   N.J.  foster home  the end of April 2021.  The foster family gave her  extra  time to decompress as she was timid and not used to living in a house. She has come a long way since then.  She is now on an eating and potty schedule , goes up and down the house steps  and loves to be petted! 

In her  current  foster home she has a  “ foster  dog  brother ”   that is active and  teaches/ motivates her.  She's very happy and alert  each  morning . They  run around the  fenced  backyard ,   they  come in  and  eat together ,  and  then they  run around  the backyard  more . Her foster brother taught her to  chas e  birds  and  bark  friendly  at people as they  walk  by .  She likes to play with toys.  In the house she is  more  timid .  She  continues to get  used to “kitchen/tv sounds” where she may be startled for a second ,  but then be ok.   Sometimes she does not want to move from her spot and needs coaxing. Usually if her foster brother comes over and she sees him getting a few treats she gets up and follows. 

Buttercup has successfully completed a few sessions with the trainer SOCO uses and those tips and techniques have been incorporated by the foster family. The trainer has even remarked that she would have adopted Buttercup in a heartbeat had she had the right dog to pair her with.

She has learned to sit for treats  and  understands “no” . She knows her name and usually comes when called   ( to  at least where you can see her ) .   She likes to go on  leash  walks and  explore  and  is more at ease  o n an open  quieter street,  as opposed to a  closed in  busy street.

Buttercup is almost 60 lbs so would need an owner strong enough and with enough patience to coax her and at times pick her up when needed until she fully acclimates to her new home. 

Given what we learned about  sweet  Buttercup, we think her best home is with another dog that is not too alpha but  active and  would be a good companion to her ,  and she a good companion in return. A fenced in yard would be great, but she can be walked on a leash.  She has been ok with cats, but it would be best for a cat meet and greet first , and of course a dog meet and greet .  As we said she loves  to be petted  and thumps her tail on the floor when you come over to pet her with a smile on her face.   She is a beautiful, sweet dog with adorable eyes and lots of love to give.
