We received a call one day from a woman who informed us that her neighbor had moved away and left her dog behind. This little, senior dog, who we named Sugar, was simply left roaming freely within the fenced yard. Had it not been for the neighbor giving Sugar food and water everyday, there's no telling what would have happened to Sugar.

When she first arrived, Sugar was in need of being groomed as her fur was so long that we couldn't even see her eyes. In addition, she was also suffering from a bacteria infection which also left her with missing fur on her body. We've had Sugar treated for the infection, groomed and have regulated her diet to include fish oil, all of which has her looking and feeling better. Sugar also has a slight limp to her back legs, the results most likely being from an old, untreated injury. She does walk and trots without any problems, she even dances at food time, but rarely will you ever see her running. 

We also quickly learned that Sugar is completely house trained and walks very well on a leash. She's also quiet, calm and has a very sweet personality. She's been excellent around other dogs, only preferring to eat alone, and has been excellent with our house cat. Sugar's age was estimated to be 12 years old and she seems to be in very good health. She would be ideal for a retired/elderly person looking for a great companion. We believe she was spay while with her former owner and has received an update on her yearly vaccinations, de-wormings and such.
