***Foster to Adopt***

Mitzi and her friend, Molly, found themselves in need of a new home after their former owner passed away unexpectedly. Scared and facing an uncertain future, due mainly because of their age, Mitzi and Molly had to be wondering if their time on this earth was also about to come to an end. After receiving a call seeking help for these senior ladies, we gladly offered them a place to stay.

We were told that Mitzi was timid and we found her to be so when she first arrived. She often scurries away from people who approached her, generally retreating to her bed. Once Mitzi gives up the game of chase, she simply cowards down in her bed and allows herself to be picked up. Over the last week, Mitzi has started to feel comfortable with us and is becoming less resistant in her interaction with our staff and loves to snuggle once she feels safe in your arms and will even give you a rare kiss! Mitzi needs a calm home and would be great for a senior/retired person. She does walk well on a leash, may have some house training (but please be prepared to offer house training) and is basically a quiet, calm little girl who is truly yearning for someone in which she can feel safe and loved.

Mitzi was spay prior to coming to our rescue. We've updated her vaccinations, administered de-wormers and resumed her monthly preventatives. Mitzi also tested negative for heartworms during her recent vet examination. Mitzi appeared to have a slight urinary infection when she arrived and was treated with antibiotics. Other than the normal age-related ailments, Mitzi appears to be in good health for a 10 year old dog.
