When Spivey first arrived, she looked to be in horrible condition, Still nursing her pups, her former owner decided to abandon Spivey and the pups just outside her home after receiving a warning from the animal control to keep them contained and provide proper care for them all.. After receiving a request from the AC officer, we took Spivey and her pups into our rescue.

Spivey had to regain her health and be treated for heartworms before we could even consider placing her for adoption. When she first arrived, Spivey was very timid and hesitant about making any friends. While never aggressive towards people, Spivey was just unsure of how to act around those who actually cared about her. She also appeared to be defensive around other dogs, but has since become friends with a couple of our other dogs and even now shares a kennel with one in particular. We would recommend a meet-and-greet with any other dogs that Spivey would share a home with and given time to get accustomed to them. Having a calm and laid-back personality herself, Spivey would most likely interact best with a dog that has a similar personality. We're not sure how Spivey would be living with cats in the same home. Now that she's healthier, Spivey simply loves the attention that she receives and displays a very affectionate personality.

In addition to being treated for heartworms, Spivey has also been spay and fully vetted. She may need some house training as we're not sure if she's ever been permitted to live indoors. She does walk very well on a leash and loves taking hikes with our staff members.
