***Samson is a courtesy listing for another rescuer. The description below was supplied by his current caretaker, who will have the final decision concerning his adoption.***
Samson was rescued by a friend of SoCo Rescue, being pulled from a neighboring county's animal control shortly before his scheduled euthanasia. We're not really sure about his past prior to ending up in the animal control but believe he was impounded as a stray dog.
Samson is very people friendly and likewise towards most other dogs. The only issues his caretaker has had with him is a sometimes dislike for other male, dominate dogs. While with his caretaker, Samson has made a number of canine friendships and seems to enjoy playing with other dogs. He is big and strong (but walks very well on a leash-see the attached video), so any potential play buddies should be able to handle his level of play. Samson also enjoys just curling up by your side, is well-mannered in his behavior and is also pretty quite. Samson is not cat friendly.
Samson has a long scar on his back, the cause being either some type of chemical burn or the results from living on a chain/tether for a number of hears which may have rubbed his back completely raw. This scar doesn't seem to bother him other than the occasional itching.
Samson has been fully vetted and recently tested negative for heartworms. He's leash, crate and house trained as well but may require some adjust time once going to a new home.
