***Dottie is scheduled to be available for adoption at Rosedale Mills (Pennington, NJ) over the March 6-8th weekend. At this time, she's only available for adoption in the NJ and surrounding areas.***  She is currently in a loving foster in the Pennington, NJ area.
Her foster mom writes ...

Dottie is a real sweetheart with a lot of great qualities in her personality. She is happy to lay on her pillow in the sun while you go about your day around the house or play tug of war or throw-and-catch with you. She is always ready to play that sometimes she doesn't know how to stop herself even when she is tired. So, one has to be aware of this and not misunderstand her continued excitement necessarily as a cue for more.

She loves her walks (and gets her innate hunting dog instincts SO excited about every sound, smell, and sight that by the time you get home, she is usually ready for a nap). We walk about .7 mile, taking it nice and easy so she can sniff around and explore her curiosity. She walks beautifully on a calm day (where there is no crazy wind, flying leaves, or squirrels running around) but it would be good for her to get a training because she does get excited and wants to pull (it's her natural instinct as a hunting dog to be excited over critters). It's not been a problem at all given her size but still, it may be a good idea to train her.

She is always eager to meet people and give them kisses. She will bark to alert you if she heard something startling but will stop as soon as she decides things are OK. We have had people come into our house and she was friendly with them all.

She is a submissive dog. She's been around children and has never shown any signs of aggression, whatsoever. I have played with her and even when I get a little rough with her and she tries to pretend-bite me, it was done playfully and never in an angry way.

She is crate trained. At night she will sleep through and not make any noise whasoever from 10 pm to 7 am. She is housetrained (with minimal accidents still happening once in a while but on average can hold for 3 - 4 hours). She will most likely need a refresher course and some time to adjust to your new home.

She knows how to sit and wait for her treat (cooked chicken breast pieces) & now gives paw!

The story seems to be constantly repeating itself: "stray pup found". Dottie joins a long list of abandoned/discarded/unwanted dogs that plaque our area, having been found all alone by a woman in the Glenwood area. And as always, no one claimed her during a search for her possible owner.

Dottie, possibly a Feist mix, is very friendly and playful with other pups. Her affectionate personality is also very apparent as she has no apprehension when meeting new people and simply loves being held and loved on. Dottie will make a great addition into any home that is seeking a small-to-medium sized dog.

Dottie has now been spay, had her vaccinations renewed and de-wormed. She's also been started on her monthly preventatives and recently tested negative for heartworms. She will most likely need additional house training.
