CJ had to overcome a lot before becoming ready for adoption, in fact we wondered if he would ever reach his day. CJ and two other Basset Hounds, Petunia (his "wife") and Rosie (his 1 year old daughter) were all owner surrenders who arrived infested with fleas and ticks, heartworm positive and had feces stuck to their bodies and embedded into their fur. More seriously, all three broke with parvo just days after arriving, which cost Rosie her life. While CJ and Petunia tested positive for parvo they never exhibited any of the tell-tale signs of the virus but were quarantined and treated against it just the same. 

CJ is a funny fellow who loves to run and play and is very friendly to everyone he meets. He can be a little dog selective but we think that's due to his protectiveness of his girlfriend Petunia.   CJ loves getting belly rubs and sitting in your lap as much as he does showing you how much love he has to give. 

CJ and Petunia are very attached and we'd love to see them adopted together but also realize that may not be possible. We would suggest a meet-and-greet with any other dogs that CJ would share a home with prior to the adoption. 

CJ may need some house and basic training as we don't think he's ever lived inside a house before. We do know that he is a very quick learner and responds very well to calm commands so we anticipate that he can master any training with the proper guidance. 

CJ has now been fully vetted, started and kept on his monthly preventatives, treated for heartworms and now appears to be in good health.
