What a Trooper!
When we first met this young boxer-Bull mix (Aug 08), she was thinner than any dog we'd seen alive (as shown in the last photo). A scar that runs from her middle back to her hip had already healed - the evidence of some horrific injury in her past or being used by dog fighters as a bait dog.

Concerned citizens had brought her into a shelter, knowing euthanasia was more merciful than to allow her to continue to starve on the streets.

But look at that face! We did and had to bring her to our rescue for some serious TLC!

She had to be fed very small meals, five times a day until her body could handle a normal meal. She was vaccinated and treatment began for heartworm exposure. Then she slept! Through it all, her tail wagged with enthusiasm and she smiled with her big brown eyes.

Now filled out, Trooper is active, playful and happy. She is pack friendly, but a pet to pet visit on neutral ground is the best way to determine if she will adapt to your pack! As with most dogs, she gets along greatly with some other dogs, some she doesn't. Therefore, we do recommend she be the only dog until you are comfortable with her. She is very friendly to humans and loves affection. She mastered basic commands very quickly and is very eager to please. She is crate-trained and housebroken and enjoys living indoors or out.

Trooper was spayed in Jan. 2009, is up to date on all vaccines and is on heartworm meds/preventatives.

This girl is proof that a SCAR means the pain is over and the healing has begun!
