***ADOPTION PENDING - Sassy is in a loving foster home in Flemington, NJ. She is enjoying being in a home & loves to snuggle in a pillowcase, lol.  She is fine with other dogs and enjoys going forward a walk.  She would make a perfect companion for an older person.  If interested in adopting Sassy, please submit an application at***

When you're a little five pound dog who has spent years enjoying sitting on your owner's lap, it can be kind of scary when everything about your life suddenly changes. Such was the case for Sassy, who was surrendered to our rescue after her owner was admitted into an assisted living facility. Sassy was very scared when she first came to us, being very frightened of the noise and commotion that comes with being in a shelter.

As quickly as we could, we relocated Sassy to a foster home where she could live in a much quieter, calmer atmosphere. It took only a couple of days for Sassy to settle in, make friends with the other foster dog at the home, a dog similar in size. She also became very trusting of her foster parent, being more and more playful, affectionate and friendly  with each passing day. Sassy is smart, learning new routines and schedules very quickly, and has shown signs of having once been house and pee pad trained. When she's not bouncing and dancing around in a playful manner, Sassy loves burrowing under the covers on her doggy bed.

Sassy is best suited in a home without young children as noise and commotion leave her a bit unsettled. Sassy would be a great companion for anyone looking for a small dog to become their snuggle buddy. While she has shown house training ability, Sassy may need time to adjust once in a new home or require additional house training. She thoroughly enjoys going on leash walks and exploring her surroundings. Sassy has been fine around cats, often not even paying them any attention at all.

Sassy just had a vet appointment, she was spay and tested heartworm negative. She's received an update on all of her annual vaccinations, been de-wormed and kept on her monthly heartworm and flea/tick preventatives. A microchip will accompany her adoption.
