Description:

** Peronal Note: Anubis is a courtesy listing for a friend of SoCo Rescue. I have helped re-home a few of the dogs in this man's care and have found all of them to be well socialized, friendly and have had nothing but great reports from those that adopted one of this man's dogs. I have had the pleasure of knowing Anubis for the past two years. He is an excellent dog, very playful and would excel in a home with a large, fenced area to run and play in. Since SoCo has been asked to help find a home for Anubis, please contact Scott at socorescue@yahoo.com if interested in giving him a home.

Anubis is a 3 year old black Lab mix located in the Soperton, Ga. area. He is very friendly and has a wonderful disposition and would make a wonderful pet for a family with children that are old enough to properly handle a medium to large sized dog.

Anubus is currently in the care of a disabled man who cares for a number of dogs that find their way to his home after being dumped at a nearby dumpster. This man found took in two such dogs, one being a pregnant female black Lab with Anubis being born on Feb. 2, 2009.

Anubis is friendly to both humans and other dogs alike. He is playful, happy and eager to have human contact. He has been housed as an outdoor dog but is house trained and has not been destructive while indoors.  Anubis does seem to be eager to learn new things, so the house training should go very well.

One thing that will benefit Anubis, as mentioned, is having a large, fenced area to run and play in. With his caretaker having very limited income and even less assistance, other than what SoCo Rescue and a few others offer, Anubis is  currently restricted to living on a runner. While this is not the ideal living situation for any dog, it does keep Anubis safe from getting hit by a car should he permitted to simply roam freely. Part of the reason his caretaker is seeking a new home for Anubis is to give him the opportunity to gain a home where he can safely have more freedom and no longer be required to be kept on a runner.

While the caretaker of Anubis does all he can to care for his dogs, his limited resources have not allowed  Anubis to be neutered or to have his vaccines updated. If an interested adopter would agree to secure these services for Anubis, then no adopton fee will apply. But if an adopter would like for SoCo to help with the vetting, then our basic adoption fee of $135 will apply. The vet care that would be covered will include neutering, updating his yearly DHLPP and rabies vaccines as well as his bordetello (kennel cough) vaccination, a heart worm test and a canine influenza vaccine. Anubis has been on a monthly heart worm preventative for some time, so we are expecting him to test negative for heart worms.

Giving Anubis a home not only will help lighten the load for his caretaker but, more importantly, will give Anubis the chance at a much better life. Black Labs, while seemingly in abundance, make wonderful family pets and naturally become very devoted to their families. Please consider giving Anubis the home that he so deserves.
